This summer Sells Pro Training welcomed over one hundred goalkeepers to our four day York and Reading residential camps with 75% of the students returning from last year.

All the goalkeepers trained three times a day covering every aspect of goalkeeping.

Whilst being put through their paces by our expert goalkeeping staff, keepers also worked with current professional goalkeepers including Manchester United’s Dean Henderson, whom is currently on loan with Sheffield United.

Dean’s Sheffield United colleague Simon Moore also joined us at York, with Newport County number one Tom King appeared in Reading.

We also had many scouts visit us from Barnsley, Aston Villa, Reading and Arsenal. As a result, seven of the students in attendance have been asked to go on trial at the various clubs.

During the weeks the keepers also received a full Sells kit package.

Well done to our goalkeepers Aaron, Harry and Dylan!

At the start of September Aaron from our centre in Cumbria signed for Sunderland’s Foundation, whilst Dylan, who also trains there, has joined Annan Athletic Football Club.

Another of Tony Caig’s keepers Harry has been invited to train with Newcastle United Football Club. We are pleased to report that all are progressing well.

All three keepers continue to attend Sells Pro Training sessions alongside the coaching they are receiving from their respective football clubs.

We hope the boys continue their development with both ourselves and the clubs for some time to come!

These are just three of the many goalkeepers that join us on a weekly basis and have progressed to a professional football club.

Our vision and hope is that for some of our most talented students, we are the first rung on the ladder of success as they take their game to #ANOTHERLEVEL

How important is specialised goalkeeper coaching ?

What does Sells Pro Training offer ?

What advice would you give aspiring keepers ?

Sells Pro Training speaks with Crystal Palace goalkeeper Julian Speroni

Julian started out in his homeland with Club Atletico Platense in 2000, but the following year moved to Scottish club Dundee, where he soon became a cult hero under boss Ivan Bonetti.

He picked up a Scottish Cup runners-up medal in 2003, follow a narrow 1-0 defeat against Rangers, before heading south to Premier League new boys Crystal Palace, for £500,000 the following year.

Julian made his top-flight debut against Norwich City that August but was utilised as a back-up to Gabor Kiraly before taking the shirt on a permanent basis in 2007.

The Argentine then flourished, winning four consecutive Player of the Year titles – the first player to achieve the feat in the club’s history.

He was undoubtedly one of the star keepers in the Premier League in 2013-14 and his form was a major reason why the Eagles maintained their top-flight status under Tony Pulis.

Speroni had another consistent Premier League campaign in 2014/15 and ended the campaign with a successful testimonial game against former club Dundee.

He equalled the club’s goalkeeper appearance record when he made his 388th appearance against Southampton towards the end of the 2015/16 season and has now made over 500 career appearances.
Julian is a former Argentina U21 international.

Goalkeepers from around the world were present at our Summer residentials.

Keepers from Canada, Poland, Sweden, Latvia, Romania and Norway attended the courses in York & Reading, with UK stoppers travelling from as far as Scotland and the Isle of Man.

Goalkeepers worked hard covering all aspects of goalkeeping throughout the week, including; shot-stopping, crosses, one v one and distribution techniques.

We had some top professional goalkeepers attend including Leeds United and Nothern Ireland international Bailey Peacock Farrell, Middlesborough’s Andy Lonergan, Bolton’s Remi Matthews, Bristol City’s Frank Fielding and Fulham’s Marcus Bettinelli, who has just been called into the England squad.

We also had the Academy goalkeeper coaching team from Sunderland & Arsenal to take a look at the goalkeepers.

These are a few of the reviews we’ve received:

Well what can I say!! Dominic attended the Reading residential this summer and he absolutely loved it and the food throughout the week was delicious!
He had an amazing time and learnt a lot of new skills

My son has just returned from his first goalkeeper camp and absolutely loved it. He has already asked to go again next year – do you do discount for returning customers loooool
Everything he has said tells me how amazingly organised, friendly and professional the camp was.
The location was amazing, the sessions were varied and inclusive and most importantly fun

We have some more exciting news to share as the scheme grows and takes further shape…

We’ve had two more new franchise partners join the team at Sells Pro Training!

We would like to welcome Tony Caig and Borja Loeches. We look forward to seeing them take their goalkeepers to #ANOTHERLEVEL

Tony Caig is a vastly experienced, both as a player and coach with over 450 professional appearances. We are delighted that he has chosen to join up with us and he will be operating centres in Cumbria, Dumfries & Galloway and the Scottish Borders.

Borja Loeches is our man in Barnet & Hackney and will be developing young goalkeepers in North London, having played and coached in Spain. We are thrilled that Borja has opted to join us and we have no doubts that his students will fell exactly the same.

Both coaches are close to launching their first venues and getting their first goalkeepers through the door. It’s an exciting time to get involved and we are looking forward to both Borja and Tony getting their centres up and running.

We are adding new coaches all the time and hope to be able to announce further coaches and locations in the coming weeks.

Goalkeepers from around the world were present at our Easter residential.

Keepers from Australia, Poland, Sweden, Latvia, and Norway attended the course at Ratcliffe College in Leicester, with UK stoppers travelling from as far as Scotland and the Isle of Man.

Goalkeepers worked hard covering all aspects of goalkeeping throughout the week, including; shot-stopping, crosses, one v one and distribution techniques.

Sheffield United’s Simon Moore spent Wednesday with us, having lunch with the students, then coaching them in the afternoon and then taking questions during the evening.

Simon recorded a good deal of content for Sells TV too, so look out for that in the coming weeks.

Northampton Town first team goalkeeper coach Jim Hollman also paid a visit putting on a session utilising his specifically designed Pro Deflect equipment which everyone enjoyed.

We also had the Academy goalkeeper coaching team from Leicester City to take a look at the goalkeepers.

These are a few of the reviews we’ve received:

“I thought an 8am to 8pm day might be a bit too much, but the drills were full of variety and the coaches enthusiasm and positivity meant that the time flew by.

“He loved every day from start to finish.”

Stephen Griffiths

“After taking a couple of hours or so to settle he then rang each night and said how much fun it was and that in itself is worth every penny.

“He returned on Friday and played on Saturday and low and behold got man of the match.”

Gareth Purdy

“Such great staff! “The teens were well looked after, learned a lot and had a great time!

“Theodor was the only Norwegian present, but he made friends easily.”

Anita Fevang

Matt, I and all of the SPT team would like to thank everybody who attended for a hugely enjoyable four days.

The first Sells Pro Training Residential Camp of 2018 is just over three weeks away.

This will be held at Radcliffe College in Leicester from the 3rd to the 6th April.

We are pleased to announce that Sheffield United goalkeeper Simon Moore will be attending the camp.

Simon will be looking at and interacting with all students whilst on the field, adding his own expertise and coaching tips along the way.

Simon was named in the PFA League One Team of the Year after leading his club to promotion last season.

After an early season injury, Simon returned to the line-up and recently saved a penalty in the Blades 3-1 victory over Reading, with the game delicately balanced at 2-1.

He will be able to pass on his knowledge and give an insight into what it’s like to be a professional footballer via a Q&A session.

In addition to the visit from Simon, there may be some scouts from Premier League and Championship clubs in attendance.

At the time of writing, there are just eight residential places available, though there is the opportunity to add places for further non-residential participants.

All the participants will take part in around three sessions of goalkeeper training each day, so it’s an action packed camp.

The lead coaches on the camp are Matt Nash and James Norton, both have been running goalkeeper residential courses for over nine years.
